Services

Services

Fondazione Ago offers restoration, storage, conservation and cataloguing services, which are carried out internally by specialized staff. In addition, special agreements can be made to provide these services, fundamental for the preservation and promotion of historical and contemporary photographic collections, to institutions and private entities.

RESTORATION
Fondazione Ago has an internal restoration service, also open to the public, for the restoration of original photographs (negatives and positives) that require cleaning, reinforcing and flattening, so that the objects can regain optimum stability.

STORAGE
Photographs can be stored in Fondazione Ago’s climate-controlled archives through donations or storage agreements. They can also be catalogued and made permanently available for consultation. This can guarantee the correct conservation of the photographic material and, if so desired, use by a wider public.

CONSERVATION
All of the contemporary and historical photographs either owned or stored by Fondazione Ago are conserved, according to ministerial standards, in archives with controlled temperatures and humidity levels. Alongside these conservation procedures, in the event of exhibitions temperature and lighting checks are carried out in the exhibition venues and the photographs are prepared for display (with protective passepartouts[KEW1] , packaging, condition reports) while for storage, the photographs are cleaned and placed in protective packaging.

CATALOGUING
In all the photographic fonds study phases – from stocktaking to digitalization and cataloguing – Fondazione Ago follows the file F (photograph file) ministerial standards.  The cards, which include the data and a digital reproduction of the image, are made available for consultation.
